Meet Kyle Jones, the 2026 Infrastructure Association of Queensland (IAQ) Future Infrastructure Leader, whose vision is as inspiring as it is transformative.
Kyle, an emerging talent from Populous’ Brisbane team, has been awarded the prestigious IAQ scholarship, a recognition reserved for young professionals who aren’t just skilled but are also passionate about shaping the future of Queensland’s infrastructure. But here’s where it gets even more impressive: Kyle’s approach to design goes beyond functionality. His philosophy is rooted in connection and belonging, aiming to create spaces that welcome newcomers, energize long-time residents, and leave visitors yearning to return.
And this is the part most people miss: Kyle’s work isn’t just about aesthetics or technical prowess—it’s about human experience. Whether it’s a sports venue or an entertainment hub, his designs are crafted to elevate how people feel and interact. As he puts it, ‘My goal is to make sure these spaces work together, to create a sense of unity and vibrancy.’ This mindset has already made waves, not just in Australia but globally, with contributions to projects like the Las Vegas Sands Arena in Singapore and Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.
Kyle’s journey is equally noteworthy. Since joining Populous in 2019, he’s been balancing his role as an Architectural Assistant with pursuing a Master of Architecture at the Queensland University of Technology.
