Bold truth: even a legendary puncher can be outgunned by another champion’s sheer force. Shane Mosley, who shared the ring with Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, and Oscar De La Hoya, reveals that the hardest punch he ever faced came from a different world champion.
Like many elite fighters, Mosley tested his own power against some of the sport’s most feared knockout artists across a 60-fight career. In 2011, he met Manny Pacquiao, then the WBO welterweight champion and widely regarded as a ferocious puncher. The bout ended in a unanimous decision victory for Pacquiao, yet Mosley showed exceptional durability and grit under heavy bombardment.
Earlier, in 2007, Mosley endured a unanimous decision loss to Miguel Cotto, who was also known for his substantial power at 147 pounds. Despite facing several proven knockout threats, Mosley also proved adept at neutralizing explosive assaults from other top contenders.
Notably, he defeated Oscar De La Hoya and Fernando Vargas on two separate occasions, demonstrating his ability to withstand and respond to big hitters. He also stopped Antonio Margarito in the ninth round in 2009, showcasing his versatility and resilience against a feared puncher.
Ultimately, Mosley attributes his toughest hand to Vernon Forrest, who defeated him twice in 2002. Forrest, a two-weight world champion at welterweight and super-welterweight, finished his career with a record of 41 wins in 45 fights, including 29 knockouts.
